Backup and failover testing

Proof that recovery works, measured in real minutes and hours rather than assumed.

Modern data centre building in the desert at dawn

We prove that recovery works by testing it: technical walk-throughs of the recovery steps, restore tests and planned failovers to the recovery site. Each test records the time taken, the issues found and the fixes, in a form auditors can review.

Regulators and auditors in both markets increasingly ask for test results rather than plans alone, under frameworks such as NCEMA 7000 and the UAE Information Assurance Regulation, and SAMA's business continuity management framework and NCA ECC in Saudi Arabia.

What we deliver

  • Technical walk-throughs

Step-by-step reviews of recovery runbooks with the engineers who would run them.

  • Restore and failover tests

Planned tests that measure real recovery times against the agreed objectives.

  • Audit evidence

Test plans, results, issues and fixes kept in a form auditors can review.

  • Business-owned priorities

Recovery priorities agreed by process owners, not set by IT alone.

  • Tested, not assumed

Plans exercised regularly, with results and fixes recorded.

When recovery needs proving

It needs proving before an audit, after a major change and whenever a plan has never been run in full.

  • Failover has only ever been tested on paper.
  • The recovery times in the plan have never been measured.
  • An auditor has asked for test evidence you do not have.
