Operating model design

A target operating model your leadership can act on: who decides, who delivers and how the change happens.

We map how decisions, services and people are organised today, then design the target model: capabilities, organisation structure, decision rights and the forums that govern them. You receive a blueprint with a RACI, a sizing view and a transition plan your leadership can act on.

We test the design against real decisions from the past year, so gaps in authority or overlapping committees show up before the new structure is announced.

What the work involves

  • Capability map

The capabilities the organisation needs, who owns each one today and where gaps or overlaps sit.

  • Decision rights and RACI

Who decides, who is consulted and which forum signs off, written down for each key process.

  • Transition plan

The sequence of moves from today's structure to the target, with dependencies, risks and the impact on people.

  • Steering and decisions

A steering rhythm, a decision log and a risk register your leadership keeps using after we leave.

  • Change and adoption

Communication and support for the people affected, planned with HR and line managers.

When the operating model needs redesign

The case usually becomes clear when decisions keep escalating, or when a new strategy does not fit the current structure.

  • Decisions on the same topic are made in more than one committee.
  • A new strategy, merger or mandate has changed what the organisation must deliver.
  • Leaders disagree on who owns key services or budgets.
