Platform implementation

Microsoft SQL Server

We upgrade, consolidate and secure SQL Server estates, on premises or in Azure, with Always On availability groups and a recovery plan that has been tested rather than assumed.

Empty data centre aisle between rows of server racks

Many estates still run SQL Server versions past the end of extended support, and SQL Server 2016 reached that point in July 2026, so the first task is often an inventory and an upgrade path. Azure has regions in the UAE, which gives an in-country target for Azure SQL Managed Instance or SQL Server on Azure virtual machines, and Azure Arc brings servers that stay on premises under the same management. Collation and Hijri date handling for Arabic data are settled early, because changing collation later touches every table.

Microsoft's tooling carries the work: Azure Migrate and Azure Database Migration Service to assess and move databases, Query Store to catch plan regressions after an upgrade, and distributed availability groups or log shipping for cut-over with little downtime. Transparent Data Encryption and Always Encrypted protect data at rest and in use, and SQL Server Audit records who did what.

How we implement Microsoft SQL Server

From blueprint to go-live and beyond: configuration, integration and support from one accountable team.

  • Blueprint and governance

The target edition and version, the availability group layout, the collation standard and the licensing model, including Software Assurance or Azure Hybrid Benefit, are agreed with the database lead, application owners and procurement before build.

  • End-of-support upgrades

Version upgrades tested with the application's own workload, with the database compatibility level raised in a second step once performance holds.

  • Instance consolidation

Fewer, larger instances or Managed Instance pools, with Resource Governor limits and licence counts checked before and after.

  • SSIS and SSRS modernisation

Integration Services packages and Reporting Services reports moved, rebuilt in Azure Data Factory or Power BI, or retired where nobody uses them.

  • Hypercare and managed support

Microsoft ships cumulative updates for supported SQL Server versions through the year, so we test and apply them in agreed windows, run failover drills, and watch backup jobs, blocking, index health and availability group latency.

Signs your SQL Server estate needs attention

SQL Server fits organisations that run Microsoft-based applications, already hold SQL Server licences with Software Assurance, or plan to move Windows workloads to Azure.

  • An inventory of instances with versions and support dates
  • A known licence position, including Software Assurance
  • Supported versions confirmed with each application vendor
  • A choice between Managed Instance, Azure virtual machines and staying on premises
