Platform implementation

Snowflake

We implement Snowflake with role-based access, right-sized warehouses and resource monitors from day one, so the data platform grows without surprises on the monthly bill.

Empty data centre aisle between rows of server racks

Snowflake work centres on the account structure, the role hierarchy and cost control, since compute is billed by the second for every running warehouse. Each account lives in one cloud region chosen when it is created, so the residency decision for UAE or Saudi data is made at that moment, and replication to a new account is the route if it ever has to change. Saudi NDMO standards and the UAE's data protection law both bear on which region that should be.

We load with Snowpipe or Snowpipe Streaming, transform with Dynamic Tables, Streams and Tasks or dbt, and use zero-copy cloning to give each team a test environment without duplicating storage. Governance relies on Snowflake Horizon: object tags, masking policies and row access policies defined once and inherited wherever the data is shared.

How we implement Snowflake

Implementation, customisation, deployment and ongoing support, with governance your steering committee can follow.

  • Blueprint and governance

The account and database layout, the role hierarchy, warehouse sizes with auto-suspend settings and the tagging scheme for cost allocation are agreed with the data platform owner, security and finance before data arrives.

  • Secure data sharing

Live shares with subsidiaries, partners or regulators through Secure Data Sharing or listings, with no copies to reconcile.

  • FinOps for warehouses

Resource monitors, budgets and per-department cost reports built from account usage views, with oversized warehouses brought down to size.

  • Migration from legacy warehouses

Teradata, Netezza or SQL Server warehouses moved with SnowConvert and parallel runs that compare results table by table.

  • Hypercare and managed support

Snowflake deploys releases every week and groups behaviour changes into bundles on a published schedule, so we review what is coming, test affected code, and watch credit use, failed tasks and query queuing.

Ready for Snowflake?

Snowflake fits organisations that want a managed SQL data platform with little to administer, need to share data across entities, or want separate compute for each team and to pay only for what runs.

  • A chosen cloud provider and region that meet residency rules
  • A role model mapped to your data owners
  • A monthly credit budget with named cost owners
  • Source systems ready for continuous loading
