Platform implementation

Oracle Cloud EPM

We implement Oracle Cloud EPM across planning, consolidation and account reconciliation, so the close and the budget run on one set of metadata that ties back to the ledger.

Most programmes combine EPM Planning with Financial Consolidation and Close, and often add Account Reconciliation and Tax Reporting. For Gulf groups the consolidation has to handle entities in several GCC currencies, VAT, zakat in Saudi Arabia and UAE corporate tax, which applies to financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. Where the group needs a tax provision, Tax Reporting works from the same consolidated data.

Dimensions and hierarchies are mastered in Enterprise Data Management and pushed to each application, so a new entity or account is added once. Data comes from the ERP through Data Integration pipelines, Groovy and Calculation Manager rules carry the planning logic, and EPM Automate scripts schedule loads, consolidations and backups. Finance users work in Smart View and web forms.

How we implement Oracle Cloud EPM

From blueprint to go-live and beyond: configuration, integration and support from one accountable team.

  • Blueprint and governance

The dimension design, consolidation and currency rules, the close task list and the data integration map are agreed with the financial controller, FP&A and group tax before the first application is built.

  • Account reconciliation

Reconciliation formats, auto-match rules and preparer and reviewer assignments in Account Reconciliation, with balances loaded from the ledger each period.

  • Workforce and capital planning

The Workforce and Capital modules of EPM Planning, linked to HR headcount and to the fixed asset register.

  • Management and statutory reporting

Narrative Reporting packages that combine figures and commentary for the board and the audit committee.

  • Hypercare and managed support

Oracle applies EPM Cloud updates every month, to the test environment first and to production two weeks later, so we run regression tests on rules, forms and integrations in that window. We also staff the period-end support desk, maintain metadata through EDM and watch EPM Automate jobs and backups.

The groups Oracle Cloud EPM suits

Oracle Cloud EPM suits larger groups with complex consolidation, many entities and formal statutory reporting, especially where Oracle Fusion or E-Business Suite already runs the ledger, although it connects to other ERPs as well.

  • A multi-entity, multi-currency group close
  • A controller ready to own dimensions and consolidation rules
  • A chart of accounts mapped across every ledger
  • Budget for a phased roll-out across the EPM modules
