Platform implementation

Azure IoT Hub

We stand up Azure IoT Hub with the Device Provisioning Service, IoT Edge modules and Azure Digital Twins, so buildings and plants are modelled before any device connects.

In the Gulf, Azure IoT Hub projects reach beyond factories to buildings and infrastructure: district cooling, utility metering and smart-city assets. Microsoft runs the UAE North and UAE Central regions, which helps where data should stay in the country, and we confirm that every service in the design, Digital Twins included, is offered in the chosen region. Connected devices offered in the UAE also fall under the TDRA IoT regulatory policy.

On Azure we enrol devices through DPS enrolment groups with X.509 or TPM attestation, configure them with device twins and direct methods, and route messages to Event Hubs and storage. IoT Edge modules ship as containers through layered deployments, and Azure Digital Twins holds the model of spaces and equipment, written in DTDL.

How we implement Azure IoT Hub

Implementation, customisation, deployment and ongoing support, with governance your steering committee can follow.

  • Blueprint and governance

Work starts with sign-off of the DTDL model of sites, floors and equipment, the routing plan and the enrolment approach, by the facilities or operations owner and your Azure platform team.

  • A twin graph for buildings

Sites, floors, rooms and equipment linked in Azure Digital Twins, so every reading is tied to a place.

  • Edge that survives outages

IoT Edge offline storage and local modules that keep a site working when the uplink drops, then forward data when it returns.

  • Facilities system integration

Events into the facilities management or building management (BMS) tools your teams already use, through Event Grid or Logic Apps.

  • Hypercare and managed support

We watch IoT Hub unit quotas and throttling, DPS enrolment errors and Edge module health in Azure Monitor, and plan moves of the IoT Edge runtime between long-term support versions.

Ready for Azure IoT Hub?

Organisations standardised on Azure and Microsoft identity are the natural buyers, along with real estate, utility and facilities operators who need a digital twin of their sites.

  • An Azure landing zone with networking and policy in place
  • Floor plans or an asset register to seed the twin model
  • Devices that support X.509 certificates or a TPM
  • A facilities or operations team that will own alerts
