Platform implementation

DocuSign CLM

We implement DocuSign CLM alongside DocuSign eSignature, so contracts are generated from approved templates, routed for review and signed within one workflow.

Most DocuSign CLM projects build on an existing eSignature account and connect the two, often with Salesforce on the sales side. Bilingual contracts need template testing for right-to-left Arabic text, and signing has to fit local rules: the UAE's Federal Decree-Law No. 46 of 2021 on electronic transactions and trust services and Saudi Arabia's Electronic Transactions Law both recognise electronic signatures, with exceptions for some document types.

Work happens in CLM's Workflow Designer, where steps, conditions and approvals are drawn as a flow, and in Doc Gen, which fills Word templates from form or Salesforce data. The repository's folders, attributes and security groups are set up with legal, and the Salesforce integration lets sales request and track contracts from the opportunity.

How we implement DocuSign CLM

From blueprint to go-live and beyond: configuration, integration and support from one accountable team.

  • Blueprint and governance

Before workflows are drawn, the general counsel and the commercial lead approve the contract types, the repository attribute schema and approval routes by value and risk.

  • Templates in Doc Gen

Word templates with merge fields and conditional clauses for Arabic and English versions, generated from intake forms or Salesforce records.

  • Redlining and negotiation

Version control and comparison during counterparty review, so legal sees what changed between rounds.

  • Obligations after signature

Key dates, renewals and obligations captured as repository attributes, with reminders sent to the contract owner.

  • Hypercare and managed support

After go-live we maintain workflows and templates as policies change, review DocuSign's release notes for CLM and eSignature, and watch for stuck workflow steps and failed Salesforce syncs.

When DocuSign CLM is the sensible next step

The gain is greatest for organisations already standardised on DocuSign eSignature, often with Salesforce, that want contract creation and approval from the same vendor rather than a separate CLM.

  • Wide use of an existing DocuSign eSignature account
  • Sales contracts started from Salesforce opportunities
  • Word templates owned by the legal team
  • An administrator to maintain workflows after launch
