Platform implementation

SAP Ariba and SAP IBP

We connect SAP Ariba sourcing and buying with SAP IBP planning, so what procurement commits to and what planners expect come from the same supplier and demand data.

Most programmes on this pairing start on the Ariba side, with sourcing events, contracts and guided buying, and bring IBP in once demand and supply plans need to drive what gets bought. In the Gulf, supplier evaluation has to respect In-Country Value (ICV) scoring in the UAE and local content rules in Saudi Arabia, and Saudi government tenders run through Etimad rather than a private sourcing tool.

Ariba runs as SAP-managed cloud services, so our work is configuration, approval rules and integration to S/4HANA or ECC through SAP Ariba's Cloud Integration Gateway, not custom code. On IBP we build planning areas, key figures and planning operators, and planners work in the Excel add-in and Fiori apps on data snapshots we reconcile with them.

How we implement SAP Ariba and SAP IBP

Design, build, integration and run-state support, with each decision recorded for your steering committee.

  • Blueprint and governance

Before any sourcing event or planning area is built, the CPO's office and the head of planning sign off the commodity structure, approval thresholds and the IBP planning-level hierarchy.

  • Supplier onboarding on Ariba Network

Registration questionnaires, qualification and supplier risk checks set up in Ariba SLP, so suppliers reach Ariba Network with verified data.

  • Guided buying for occasional buyers

Guided buying channels, catalogues and policy checks, so staff outside procurement buy from contracted suppliers with little training.

  • Response and supply scenarios

IBP response and supply models that test supplier shortfalls or sudden demand, with allocations reviewed by planners before release.

  • Hypercare and managed support

SAP ships quarterly releases for both Ariba and IBP, so we review each one against your configuration and test it in the test realm or test system before features are switched on. Between releases we watch integration errors and IBP data loads.

When SAP Ariba and SAP IBP belong together

This pairing suits organisations already running SAP ERP that want sourcing and planning on SAP's own cloud, rather than adding a separate spend or planning vendor.

  • An SAP S/4HANA or ECC backbone that will stay for the next few years
  • Category managers ready to run sourcing events in Ariba rather than by email
  • A monthly planning cycle with a named owner for the consensus demand plan
  • Supplier master data cleansed before suppliers are invited to Ariba Network
