Platform implementation

Bottomline

We implement Bottomline payment and fraud controls so high-value and bulk payments leave through a secure, monitored channel to every bank you use.

Dubai towers at dusk seen across a calm creek

Bottomline is used mainly for payments rather than full treasury: SWIFT connectivity through its service bureau, payment file transformation, and fraud and risk monitoring of outgoing payments. For Gulf corporates and financial institutions, the work is about getting UAEFTS, SARIE and cross-border payments out safely and on time, with every user action logged for internal audit. Groups that pay US suppliers can also use Paymode-X, Bottomline's US business payment network.

We set up payment templates and file formats for each bank, connect them through Bottomline's SWIFT service bureau or host-to-host links, and configure fraud rules that score each payment on amount, beneficiary and user behaviour before release. Alerts go to a reviewer queue, so suspicious payments are held without stopping the rest of the run.

How we implement Bottomline

From blueprint to go-live and beyond: configuration, integration and support from one accountable team.

  • Blueprint and governance

Payment types, bank channels, approval limits and the fraud rules with their alert owners are agreed with the treasurer, finance controls and information security before any payment file is sent.

  • Beneficiary controls

New and changed beneficiary details checked and approved by a second person before the first payment goes to them.

  • Payment audit trail

Every creation, approval and release logged with user and time, so audit can trace each payment.

  • SWIFT message handling

Inbound and outbound SWIFT messages, including statements and confirmations, routed to the right team and system.

  • Hypercare and managed support

After go-live we tune fraud rules to cut false alerts, add banks and formats as the group changes, and test each Bottomline update against your payment flows. Every month we also review rejected payments and held alerts with treasury.

Signs payment security should come first

Bottomline fits organisations whose main risk sits in the payment itself, such as payment fraud, insecure files or many bank channels, and which may keep a separate treasury system for cash and deals.

  • High payment volumes or values across several banks
  • Payment fraud attempts, or audit findings on payment controls
  • A need for SWIFT connectivity without running SWIFT infrastructure in-house
  • Clear owners for fraud alerts in treasury or finance
